Alexis' First day of Preschool

I am only a few weeks behind, but I am determined to start blogging on a regular basis. So we will start with Alexis' First Day of Preschool. Alexis was counting down the days until school started. She was looking forward to it all summer long. We took some fun preschool pictures to remember this special day.
The first day of school was harder on Momma than Alexis. When we got to her school she started playing on the playground and when it was time for Matt, Kaylee and I to leave I had to make sure my sunglasses were on because I started to cry :( As the parents were leaving they passed out a bag full of things to help parents with the 1st day blues. They included Kleenex for your tears, Hershey kisses, a watch to keep track of the time away and a confetti popper to celebrate your child's 1st day. I totally lost it in the car after I read the poem they included. This is why I love Alexis' preschool so much!! They are such wonderful teachers and so creative. When I picked Alexis up from school she was full of smiles and was excited to tell me about her day and asked me when she gets to go back. I am looking forward to this school year. I have joined the parent board and love being part of her school. Look for many more posts about her preschool school year!
Enjoy the 1st day of preschool pictures below!

Farm Camp

Once again I am very far behind on blogging, but I am here to try to catch up slowly.

I will begin with one fun thing we did this summer. We signed Alexis up for a camp at the farm at the Botantical Gardens. It was a 7 week camp every Tuesday for a couple hours in the morning. I enjoyed some quality one on one time with Alexis and loved every minute of it. Each week they focused on a specific farm animal and was able to visit the animal at the barn, participate in an activity related to the animal and created an art project. I tried to take pictures each week, but of course there were so many so I just picked a few to share below. Enjoy!

1st day of Farm Sprouts camp. Alexis is ready in her new t shirt.
On the first day each child was given a vegetable to plant in the children's garden and extra seeds to take home and plant. Alexis planted pumpkins and was very excited to watch them grow each week. We have been watching our pumpkins at home and noticed the other day we have 2 pumpkins!! We hope they will continue to grow and be ready for Halloween.
Alexis' buddy, Zachary also signed up for the camp. They had a good time during camp with each other.
Every day Alexis was excited to do the art projects. I think we have a little artist on our hands. Alexis LOVES creating anything to do with art.
Every morning upon arrival, each child was required to complete their "farm chores". Here is Alexis water the flowers. Some other chores were: sweeping inside and outside, collecting eggs, mending the garden and laundry.

Another day, another art project.

Throughout the camp I had various people watch Kaylee. Matt took a couple days off, my wonderful brother watched her a couple times and our great friend Veronica spent a day with Kaylee. One day Matt joined Alexis at Farm camp and I spent the morning with Kaylee. After camp we joined Matt and Alexis for a picnic lunch. It was such a nice more for both Matt and I to have one on one time with the girls.

I was very impressed with this camp and hope to sign Alexis up again next summer.

Visit from Uncle, Auntie & Cousin Mckinley

We have been counting down the days until Big Uncle, Auntie Liz and Cousin Mckinley came to visit. Alexis and I went to meet them at the airport (they didn't get into 10 PM so we left Daddy and Kaylee at home to sleep). Alexis made a sign that said: "Welcome Cousin Mckinley". She was so excited to see her cousin.
Yay!! They are finally here!!
Cousins playing together for the first time. Last time we saw Mckinley she was only weeks old and of course she couldn't play with Kaylee.

Father's Day

I am behind on blogging of course. This summer has been jammed packed with so many fun activities and I can't keep up with the blog. So I am going to back track a bit and talk about Father's Day. This year for Father's Day my brother and his family were in town so my mom had a BBQ at her house for everyone to get together. I bought the girls some cute t-shirts that said "My Dad is the Best". Alexis was super excited to wear them and was even more excited when we found a Dad shirt and hat for Matt to wear also. Before the BBQ we cooked Matt his favorite breakfast and enjoyed some fun family time out in the backyard.

The girls with their #1 Dad!
These two are super close and love each other so much.
Here is a picture of the cute shirts I bought the girls to wear.

We enjoyed some wonderful family time at my parents house and at the end of the day I realized I didn't get any pictures :( I was bummed. The important thing is all the Dad's had a wonderful time and were well taken care of. Happy Father's Day to the men in my life: Matt, my Dad, Larry (my father in law), and my brother Chris. Love you all!

Swim Lessons

This was the 3rd summer Alexis has done swim lessons. The past summers we have done the parent tot class where she swims with a parent, but this year since she is 4 she did the preschool class where she swims in the kiddie pool without a parent and she did great! By the end of the 2 week lessons she was putting her face under water and getting more confident with swimming. She was excited to get to swim in the big pool too. Her friends Topher and Zachary also did the lessons with Alexis so she loved having her friends with her each day at swim. Now when we go swimming she sings the songs and play the games she learned.

Last summer Kaylee was too young to do swim lessons since they begin at 6 months so we were able to sign her up this year! Kaylee is a fish and we knew right away she would love the water. By the second day she was jumping in the pool and by the end of the lessons she was able to go under water without crying. She did great! Her buddy Gabe also did swim lessons and they enjoyed playing together in the water. We are excited to swim with the girls this summer and work with them on the different things they learned in their lessons.
