Christmas Eve 2011

Christmas Eve has finally arrived!! During the day we got the house ready for Christmas day (we host Christmas every year so both sides of the family can be together). Christmas Eve we went over to Grandma and Papa's for some yummy dinner and Chirstmas Eve gifts. For dinner my mom made BBQ brisket, coleslaw and baked beans. It was delicious!! After dinner we opened presents. Every Christmas Eve ever since I can remember we got pajama's to open and wear that night. So I have taken on this tradition for Alexis she gets Christmas pajama's and a Christmas book to open on Christmas Eve. My mom got her slippers and a recordable "The Night Before Christmas" book. My dad and mom recored them reading the book so now every time Alexis wants to hear their voice we listen to the book. What a wonderful gift! After gifts we all bundled up and headed out to see Christmas lights. We first stopped at Michele's grandparents grave to put out flowers and remember the times we had with them. We do this every year and it still brings tears to my eyes. We miss you Grandma Ethel and Papa Dutch!! Next, we went to see the Bugg lights at Menual School. They have such a great display of characters and Christmas lights. I remember going to the Bugg house growing up and seeing this magical display. Alexis LOVED it because there were many "Neighs" aka horses to see. We then loaded back up in the car and drove around the country club area to see luminarias. It started getting late and we needed to get Alexis home in bed so Santa could come bring her presents. We had a wonderful Christmas Eve with the ones we love so much.

Grandma bought Alexis a Barbie she could brush and do her hair. Alexis is really into doing Mommy's hair with bows and ribbons so this was a perfect present.
